Despite RW Tim Jackman rumours to the contrary, all of the players were accounted for this morning at the Flames’ skate.
C Krys Kolanos has been assigned to AHL Abbotsford, but beyond that?
Everyone, including RW David Moss and Jackman, was on the ice.
“We kind of figured it out in the room before we got out there,” C Michael Cammalleri said of the full complement of players. “Everyone was here this morning.”
And, of course, there’s a perfect distraction to the NHL trade deadline — which is 1 p.m., by the way — and that is a visit from the St. Louis Blues, one of the best teams in the league.
“It’s almost a good thing that it’s a game day,” said D Mark Giordano. “Basically, you can just go through your routine and get ready for a big game. This is a huge two points. There’s a lot of coverage . . . but you try not to think about it. Just go through our routine, the pre-game skate, we’ll have a meal and go from there. Just like any other game day.”
The trade deadline does tend to rile up reporters and fans, there’s no denying that.
“It’s become such a media frenzy,” said Cammalleri. “It’s almost anticlimactic now . . . you probably expect less to happen. According to the talk shows, everybody in the league is getting traded today. I would assume there won’t be 700 trades today.”
